Automated Concepts and Magestic Systems are
pleased to offer Dynamic Robotic Parts Sorting. DRPS automates the
tedious task of removing cut shapes from the skeleton produced on 2D
shape cutting machines.
Many manufacturers using CNC shape cutting machines to produce the
blanks for their fabrications and assemblies automate the sheet handling
for loading and unloading the cutting machine, however, the removal of
the shapes from the skeleton in most cases is done manually. The patent
pending DRPS solution provides the piece of the puzzle required for a
completely automated shape cutting operation.

DRPS provides several
novel technologies for the shape cutting process:
-
Robot receives part
location from nesting software
-
Nesting software
defines appropriate orientation and sets suction or magnetic
grippers according to the part’s shape. It turns off cups over
holes and engages cups with positive grip.
-
Robot may be
directed to use part-specific pick path to break tabs. In thicker
materials, nesting software can provide cut locations for tab
snipper.
-
Vision could record
information if robot fails to pick part or in case of other faults
-
Nesting software
optimizes space on outbound surface (conveyor, pallet, etc.)
-
Nesting software
accounts for part shape, gripper shape and stack thickness to avoid
stack collisions on outbound process
Dynamic
Robotic Parts Sorting is a joint venture between
Automated
Concepts and Magestic Systems.
